I will start with the my first known Gibson ancestor (James W. Gibson) He is rather hard to track, but he married Rachel Bowers in Wilson Co., Tn in 1830. This James W. Gibson's father is unknown (thought to be named James also), but his grandparents are thought to be Sarah Caperton and James Henry Gibson. This comes from Bernard Caperton's book.

Back to James W. Gibson, b. 1801. He comes to Yalobusha Co., MS by 1850, then to Carroll Co., MS by 1860. This was just when the south was preparing to go to war with the north. There are two Caperton males living in James W. Gibson's household. These have been identified as Joseph Estill Caperton and William Wood Caperton. Their father is Rev. Milton T. Caperton, mother Amanda Scrivner. We would love to have more information about Sarah Caperton and James Henry Gibson, and his son (possibly named)and his wife.
