Over the past several months I have observed a growing number of the source records directly linked to by other sites. Additionally the search engines had begun linking to many "registered user only" pages which was causing problems for both the search engines and those searching the Caperton name. To deal with this I have added some security enhancements to the custom database I use to display the nearly 2000 records and images available on the site, preventing the backdoor access that the engines were exploiting. Most of these enhancements will be invisible to the typical user, however there are a few more collections that are now only available to Registered Users. I do not see this as much of an issue since it is free to register. An added bonus for the Society will be reduced bandwidth costs which will enable me to make available even more source records! Next on the list to be released is the 1840 US census, including over 50 images of source records!
