The Wrong Nancy? was created by Admiral
There are some that believe that Bernard may have tracked down the Wrong Nancy Kelly believing her to be our Nancy Caperton. I would be interested in anyone's thoughts on this idea.

I am William C. Hart, a 4g grandson of James Kelly & Nancy Caperton. I feel certain my James Kelly married (B-5)Nancy Caperton. Sources: (1)National Archives, James Kelly, VA, Pension Application #S16903--Replies to questions by the Court, Question #4--"......I served as a substitute in the place of Adam Caperton and served as stated my declaration eleven months longer". In summary, this pension application states James Kelly was born Ireland, Aug, 1756, & while a resident of Greenbrier Co., VA, he served Sep, 1777 to 1780 aas a private, then substituted from Sep, 1777 for 9 more months as an ensign. (2) Certificate of Marriage, Greenbrier County, VA (now WV), Marriage Record #1-A, p. 71. (Married by John Alderson 7 Feb 1782.) (3) Jeffrey C. Weaver, 1787 Greenbrier County (West) Virginia Personal Property Tax List, John Henderson's District. James Kelly's name immediately follows those of his father-in-law, John Caperton, & his brother-in-law, Hugh Caperton. There was another James Kelly who resided in Greenbrier Co., but he was not born until 1808. He appears in the 1850 U.S. Census.
By the way, I live near you in Gilroy.

Thanks for the info wchart24, I agree with where you are going. Also a fellow cousin did some work on this line a few years back. it is presented here:
caperton.info/updates-corrections-to-the...4-nancy-caperton-b-5
If you have a chance and want to take a look at it let me know if you have additional info on the lines shown. I have info both you and Gay provided me some time back, and am working to update the site, so any help is appreciated!
NOTE: The forum was causing double postings so I deleted the duplication for both this post and wchart24's post. I was NOT editing for content, just duplication!

Can somebody help? Who is the James Kelly 1756 Ireland married to Nancy Agness Caperton 1760 Augusta County Virgina .
They are buried in the California City Cemetery, California Missouri.
