Names are from the book..Cemeteries of Monroe County..which I got from the Monroe County Museum in Union, West Virginia

I find it interesting that none of the people have the Caperton surname and that there is one Hugh under the Campbell surname. I called this the Slave Cemetery because I believe that is what it was in the beginning. I do think that it might have become the Cemetery for the negro community in the area because they couldn't be buried in Green Hills Cemetery. White people in Union had a hard time with negro integration a long time ago. I could be wrong.
